About this campaign
After our human family was complete, we decided in 2013 that it was time for us to grow by one more, a furry four-legged one. We happened to come across a family that had unplanned YorkiePoo puppies needing homes. It was the perfect match. All the way home, our girls took turns holding her and looking at her while throwing out names. Somehow Biskit stuck. She has been spoiled ever since.
Biskit has never made it over 5.5 pounds so needless to say she is quite tiny and fragile. On April 30, she sustained a complete fracture to her lower tibia and fibia. After splinting and hoping her little bones would heal, we were not so lucky. Biskit has a lot left in her; euthanasia was not an option. Dr Reue at Walnut Creek Animal Clinic explained amputation was going to be the best option.
Biskit has not missed a beat. The splints were bigger than her but that did not slow her down. And even post amputation, she cannot be stopped. (video is a couple hours post op) She usually gets her second wind at bedtime which is when she loves to play Blanket Monster! Otherwise, you will catch her cuddling with any one of her humans. She really enjoys perching up on my husband's shoulder.
With the obvious deformity of her leg, she had to be rushed to the ER. That was a high bill we had to recover from . We were confident in Dr. Reue's recommendations and even Biskit's ability to recover on 3 legs but not so confident on how we are going to pay for surgery.
