Bixby is a 9 year old American Staffordshire Terrier in White Bear Lake, MN, who needs $7,000 for TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy).

We rescued Bixby in August 2020. He spent over a year in a South Carolina shelter, surviving only because he was a "staff favorite." He came to us with heartworms & carrying the scars of a tough past—he’s still scared of hoses and can’t stand being in a kennel. Despite everything he’s been through, Bixby’s heart is pure gold. He truly believes that every human and dog he meets is his best friend,

Bixby has spent his life navigating a "floating kneecap" (luxating patella). Unfortunately, the strain has finally taken its toll. He has now suffered torn CCLs in both of his hind legs.

For a dog who just wants to run up and greet the world, being unable to walk comfortably is heartbreaking.

Bixby is truly a huge part of our family. Prior to getting Bixby, our son was uncomfortable around dogs due to his previous experiences. Because of Bixby's unconditional love and "snuggle bug" nature, our son loves Bixby and no longer has issues being with other dogs.

We are a single income household. We currently have two vehicles that are over 16 years old and we keep nursing along. This unexpected situation with Bixby is creating even more financial stress and we truly don't know what to do.
