About this campaign

Black Buddy is a community cat who was previously neutered and ear-tipped through TNR.

He roamed a neighborhood and one of the caregivers reached out when he showed up with a swollen face, an open mouth that he was unable to close, and drooling excessively. He had lost weight because he could not eat, and his appearance was more ragged than usual because he could not groom himself.

Sadly he had been that way for a while, but no one could afford vet care for a cat that “wasn’t theirs” until finally his condition worsened to not being able to eat or close his mouth. At that point, one of the caregivers reached out for help.

We got him an emergency appointment at PAC where they determined he had severe stomatitis and severe dental disease.

They suspect he is middle-aged, but difficult to tell because his teeth were in such poor condition. He needs blood work and a combo test before dental. Turns out he is FIV+ which will impede his healing. Because of his FIV status he should not live outside unattended around other cats and none of the neighbors were willing to take him in.

Black Buddy´s teeth are so bad that he needs emergency surgery as soon as possible. This was unexpected but an emergency! The good news is this street cat will no longer have to fend for himself or find shelter in bad weather.
