When rescuers from Baw Baw Animal Welfare found Blacky, his condition broke our hearts. His body was covered in painful wounds, his fur almost completely gone. Weak, starving, and exhausted, Blacky had been wandering the streets — rejected and ignored by everyone who saw him. People turned away because of how he looked, but all he ever wanted was a gentle hand and a little kindness.

Our team rescued Blacky and rushed him into care. After thorough testing, we ruled out mange, hypothyroidism, and distemper. The most likely cause of his severe hair loss and poor skin condition is a fungal infection — one that’s left him raw, itchy, and deeply uncomfortable.

Blacky has now started antifungal treatment, including oral medication and nutritional supplements to help his body heal from the inside out. Despite everything he’s endured, this brave boy is gentle, affectionate, and already showing small signs of hope.
