About this campaign

Sweet little Bloom should be spending her days chasing toys, climbing cat trees, and discovering the world around her. Instead, she's been fighting frightening, unexplained seizures.

Friends of Ferals Cat Rescue rushed Bloom to the vet after she began experiencing seizures. By the time of her first appointment, she had already suffered four episodes, prompting her veterinary team to perform blood work and a urinalysis in hopes of finding the cause.

While waiting for answers, Bloom was started on medication to help control the seizures. Unfortunately, despite treatment, she continued to decline, suffering four more seizures the very next day. For a tiny kitten, every seizure is exhausting and frightening, and for the people who love her, it's heartbreaking to watch.

Seizures in kittens can be incredibly difficult to diagnose. They may be caused by exposure to a toxin, a temporary chemical imbalance in the brain, or an underlying lifelong neurological condition. Right now, no one knows which path Bloom's journey will take. The only certainty is that she needs continued veterinary care, diagnostic testing, and close monitoring.

Thankfully, there is finally a glimmer of hope.

Since starting her new medication, Bloom's seizures have become less frequent. She has gone nearly a week with only 2 seizures occurring, a huge improvement that everyone has been celebrating. Although this is incredibly encouraging, she isn't out of the woods yet. Someone from the rescue remains with Bloom around the clock, monitoring her closely and making sure she's safe in case another seizure occurs.

Bloom's progress is promising, but her medical journey is far from over. Continued testing, medications, and follow up care are essential as her team works to determine what's causing these seizures and how to give her the healthiest future possible.

Please consider making a donation to help Friends of Ferals Cat Rescue continue providing Bloom with the specialized care she needs. Your generosity will help ensure this sweet little kitten can keep fighting, keep healing, and hopefully one day leave her seizures behind for good.

7/24/26 Update

We have an update on Bloom's treatment plan!

After consulting with her veterinary team, we've decided to begin treatment for toxoplasmosis as a precaution while continuing her anti-seizure medication for the next two months. Although we're still working to determine the exact cause of her seizures, this approach gives Bloom the best chance at recovery while covering a possible underlying cause.

The plan is to keep her stable on her medication over the next eight weeks. If she continues to do well and remains seizure free, her vet will gradually begin weaning her off the anti-seizure medication. At that point, we'll be watching her very closely to see if the seizures return or if this was a temporary condition she has overcome.

We're hopeful that this plan will give Bloom the best opportunity for a healthy future, but her journey isn't over just yet. Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared her story, and kept this sweet girl in your thoughts. Your support is helping make her ongoing care and treatment possible, and we can't thank you enough.

We'll continue to share updates as Bloom progresses. Please keep cheering her on!

8/3/26 Update

We have some wonderful news to share about Bloom!

This sweet little girl has officially gone one full week without a seizure! It's the longest stretch she's had since this frightening journey began, and we're so hopeful that she's moving in the right direction.

Bloom is still receiving 24/7 supervision to make sure she's safe. Her foster mom has become her constant companion, taking her everywhere from work to shopping trips, visits to Rockledge Gardens, and even making sure she has the cutest little hat for her adventures. She's become quite the sidekick, and it's clear she's enjoying life much more than she was just a few weeks ago.

As encouraging as this update is, Bloom isn't in the clear yet. Her medical team is still working to determine whether this improvement is temporary or the beginning of a lasting recovery. Until they know for certain, she'll continue to need close monitoring, follow up care, and medication to keep her safe.

Your support has helped Bloom reach this milestone, but her journey isn't over. If you're able to donate or share her story, you'll be helping Friends of Ferals Cat Rescue continue providing the care she needs while everyone waits and hopes for the best.
