Blu is a 9 year old Miniature Australian Shepherd in Sioux Falls, SD, who needs $2,000 for Right Hip Disarticulation.

I have always wanted a dog my entire life. My parents said that if I waited until I graduated nursing school to get a dog, they would help me however they could with watching my dog during the days that I worked at the hospital. I was 22 about to turn 23 years old when I got Blu as an 8 week old puppy. It was just him and I for years. During that time we created such an unbreakable bond.

Recently we got devasting news that Blu has osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in his back right leg and will need to have surgery to have his leg amputated and then proceed with chemotherapy. We were informed that this is a very aggressive cancer that usually holds a prognosis of 3-5 months. He underwent a bone biopsy for diagnosis and is currently healing from that painful procedure.

I always say that Blu is my spirit animal. Over time he has become a part of my soul. I do not know life without him in it. I named him Blu because when I looked into his eyes they were just so beautiful, captive, and pure. Blu is now currently 9 years old. He is a huge part of my families lives. Blu is so loving, he loves ALL food, he is the most gentle soul, and he loves his frisbee.

My husband is currently in school and is not allowed to work during his program. We are currently on medicaid. We just found out we are pregnant with our first child and would love more than anything for Blu to meet our baby boy come June 2026.
