Meet Blue💙 A fighter with a bright future! At just 7 weeks old, little Blue was found alone on the streets. Fort Bend County animal control picked him up on October 2, and it was clear he was in rough shape. Blue was pale, cold, and so weak he could barely stand. His tiny body showed signs of neglect—his ribs, spine, and pelvis all visible, and his fur was stained yellow, likely from urine scald.

His little belly was swollen, and his chances didn’t look good, but Blue’s story was far from over. The dedicated vet team at the shelter stepped in immediately, giving him dextrose, a blood transfusion, IV fluids, and warmth to support his fragile body. With their expert care and a whole lot of love, Blue began to show signs of improvement and slowly regain his spirit.

On October 7, the shelter sent out a call for rescue, and a kind-hearted ThisIsHouston foster, Kathryn, answered. She picked up Blue the very next day, and under her loving watch, he’s been thriving. He’s already started his vaccines and, if all goes well, he’ll be ready for a local adoption trial in Texas in just a few weeks! Blue has come so far, but still needs ongoing medical support for a full recovery.

Update 10/31/24:
Blue came down with carpal laxity syndrome most likely caused by malnutrition. The veterinarian said it's in all 4 legs, just more prominent in his front left. The growth plates are growing faster than the bones in his legs and feet. His foster mom is doing some range of motion exercises and he is expected to make much improvement with that and a good diet.
