I have had the dog for six months. He was acquired as a rescue pet from a neighbor who was unable to care for Blue so I took him in. He was very malnourished and when I took him to the vet he was found out to be positive for heart worms. Shortly after the visits, I lost employment which meant that his treatment could not get paid for to get Blue healthy again as he is very sick.

Blue is great with my daugther as they are best buddies now. He follows directions well, has his favorite sleeping spots, and loves to try to do what his breed is good at, and that is chasing animals. He is playful, loving, and mild mannered but seeing him sick and not feeling well is tough on all of us. There are days when he can't catch his breath, which scares me. He is a loving dog.

Blue enjoys going for car rides, and he can sense that he is not in his permanent home, so I think when he goes outside he is looking to see if his owners will ever come back to find him, which they have not. We made flyers for someone to pick him up, but he has not so we made the best of it and tried to give him a wonderful home. He loves the dog park, the creek and anything outside.

Blue has been positive for heart worms since taking him to the vet, they seem to think that we caught it early enough by going for first treatment, medicine, etc. He will be in need of more medicine, treatment and possibly surgery if the heartworms have gotten worse since not being able to pay for his care. We are in Jasper and have a vet that was helping the situation but I can't afford the care.

I am a single dad in Jasper and who loves animals of all shapes and sizes, so when seeing this dog in distress, I wanted to rescue him for myself and my daughter and now he is family. I have to choose between putting food on the table and paying for the vet, so I need help.
