Left to fend for himself, Blue needs you now more than ever.

When Friends For Life Animal Rescue first met this handsome Shepherd, they called him Buddy. But after discovering that he already had a family, they learned his real name was Blue.

Blue's owner had passed away, and sadly, the family member left behind didn't care for him. Blue was left to fend for himself outside, searching for food and even being attacked by other dogs. Eventually, an ACO brought him to the shelter, where they were able to step in and give him a chance.

At just 7 years old, Blue should have had many happy years ahead of him. They took him to their first veterinarian for a full evaluation, but he ended up needing to stay overnight after he began bleeding. He was given medication, and they hoped they were on the right track.

But once Blue arrived at his foster home, his foster couldn't shake the feeling that something still wasn't right.

A second veterinary visit revealed the truth. X-rays and bloodwork showed that Blue was suffering from a tick-borne illness, something they sadly see far too often in animals who have spent their lives outside without proper care. He was also experiencing significant pain, especially in one of his back legs, making it difficult for him to walk.

Blue will need medication for the rest of his life, along with pain medication when necessary. But with the right care, a loving family, and a soft place to land, they hope this sweet boy can finally live the comfortable and pampered life he deserves.
