Bonnie is a 6-year-old Pit Bull in Lakeland , FL, who needs $2,000 for Wound Care.

Bonnie was a rescue. When we found her she was covered in ticks and needed immediate care and attention.. From that moment on, Bonnie was family. Bonnie lives at home with three other dogs but she is “MaMa” and everyone knows MaMa makes the rules. She is the pack leader or as we like to call her “Security.” But... as cautious as our girl is she is equally loving to those she is protecting.

Bonnie is more than our pet. Wherever we go she goes and she makes sure of it. She loves when we holler to “load up” as she gallops to the truck on the way to another adventure with her humans. Bonnie loves being with her family but if you ask her where she would want to be it would be right next to her primary human, my boyfriend . He and joke and say Bonnie is his wife and Bonnie believes it!

Our pets are our lives. I often joke that “we work for the dogs to live well.” We have never asked for help but when COVID impacted one of our incomes, we played catch-up since but we figure it out.

Bonnie was attacked by another dog about a week before Christmas. She was severely injured from deep bite wounds damaging her front legs. She has been at My Pet Animal Hospital for about two weeks fighting to survive. With there care she has been able to keep her left limb and we are hopeful the right as well. She has several wound care procedures ahead of her but she remains in good spirits.

Bonnie has always been “Extra” with a personality that leaves you laughing. She is one of those “take no crap” kinda of personalities but still calm in her presence. She knows what she wants and expresses it through snorts and gruffs or a side eye “your ridiculous” look she gives often. She is witty, underestimated and charismatic. If you ever seen Big Mama’s House, Bonnie is “Big Mama”.
