About this campaign
Booker came into my life when I met Charles, about a year ago. Booker is a seven-year-old domesticated cat. He was given to Charles by an ex-girlfriend, she rescued Booker to give to Charles as a birthday gift. Charles and Booker have been together since he was a kitten. We do not have anymore pets. Booker is the joy of our home, we do not have kids.
Booker loves to take naps on the bed, he is extremely specific with his time, when I get home from work or Charles he comes right away and meows so we can follow him, go to the room and he immediately flops so he can get his belly rubbed. Booker literally throws himself so hard that he shakes the floor (he is chunky boy) … flopping is one of the things I love the most about Booker.
We are a newly wed couple, and this is a sudden major expense, with no emergency fund available. With Covid, we have had unexpected expenses, lower income, unreliable job hours. My husband works for Habitat for humanity, and I work as a private tutor.
Currently, Booker is hospitalized at Blue Pearl, Fort Myers. He has been diagnosed with crystals on his bladder. It is a preexisting condition; therefore, insurance would not cover for it. About a year and a half ago, he had been diagnosed with the same condition, and had to be hospitalized as well. At the time, the vet did not tell Charles that he needed a special diet.
Booker is extremely vocal, he is constantly “talking” to us, he is so smart, it amazes us! Booker has very dark fur, when the lights are off all you see if two bright eyes walking around or on your face. Sometimes, he decides to lay in the middle of the hallway and make us trip! I just loved looking at him, and thinking “wow, you truly are perfect”
