About this campaign
I adopted Boone down in Southern California on September 5th (labor day). He was born on 7/11. I love my baby boy dearly! He was born with a congenital liver shunt. He did not start showing symptoms until about 5 1/2 months. The specialist said that this congenital liver disorder was not able to be tested for in his parents. He is my whole world and I just want him healthy and happy!
Boone is an only dog, my child I like to say. He absolutely loves children! Sometimes I will take him over to my moms house and she has a Weimaraner that is about 85 lbs. Boone loves to lay between his front legs and lay on his back and will lick the inside of his jowls. He is a lover boy to animals of all sizes and humans of all sizes!
Boone or Boonie as I like to call him begs on what I call his "tripod." He will lift one of his front paws off the ground a little bit and tilt to the side begging for food. Then he will make little fake sneezes or baby barks to beg for food. Sometimes he will stand on his back two hind legs like a meerkat to beg! (Picture 7) He has the cutest little personality!
Boone was recently diagnosed with a liver shunt from a routine blood draw. He had to be referred to a specialist in the Monterey area where he had to get a bile acid test for confirmation. He has to have a CT scan before having surgery to confirm the location of the blood vessel.
I am a first year 3rd grade elementary school teacher. I get paid once a month. His CT and surgery will be costly but I cannot imagine living with my Boonie. He is also on 4 different medications to help his live function and not go into failure.
