About this campaign
I adopted Boris from the shelter; the previous owner returned him and said he was ‘untrainable’. We have been together for 9 years. He lives with Bullwinkle [16], his older brother, and Natasha [6], the love of his life. They are all named in sequence; I rescued a senior dog named Rocky, who has passed. I rescued Boris right before a traumatic event, and he has cared for me ever since.
Boris has a thymoma mass near his heart, which has caused a mass on his spleen. These masses have also caused focal seizures. The vets at VCA Capital Area believe he only needs surgery to remove the masses, and has many more years ahead of him. Without help, he has 4-6 months if his spleen does not burst before that. His favorite thing to do is run, which isn’t safe due to the splenic mass.
Boris loved to come to work with me while I worked at a dance studio for adults & children for 3 years. Then, I taught theatre for 5 years. Boris knows how to help people navigate their uncomfortable feelings. He even got his own staff shirt! When anyone was feeling overwhelmed or just needed some love, they could always ask for ‘Boris Time’, and he would help them with golden eyes & heart.
We are navigating end of life care with Bullwinkle, and Natasha had a surgery to remove a tail cyst - unfortunate timing. We have already invested $9k into his vet care, imaging, and diagnoses. Us and Natasha would be devastated to lose both Bullwinkle and Boris at once.
