Hi, meet Bourbon, our adorable 3-month-old German Shepherd puppy. Recently diagnosed with megaesophagus, Bourbon has already made an indelible mark on our family. We brought him home as a Valentine’s Day gift for our 2.5-year-old daughter, who is absolutely captivated by Paw Patrol and animals. The bond they share is truly heartwarming and a testament to the beauty of unconditional love.

Since his arrival, Bourbon has faced significant health challenges, including vomiting, diarrhea, labored breathing, and a concerning gurgling sound. His initial diagnostic tests—X-rays and a barium swallow study—raised alarms about Persistent Right Aortic Arch (PRAA) and megaesophagus. Partnering with Safe Haven Wexford, we are now focused on addressing his conditions, particularly megaesophagus

We chose a German Shepherd for their extraordinary loyalty and remarkable intelligence, making a wonderful companion for our daughter to grow up and enjoy for many years. They are best friends who love playing ball, doing tricks, and running alongside of each other. He is a good ol boy and very sweet despite his health issues. He brings our home laughter and joy beyond measure.
