About this campaign
I rescued Brodie on his way to Foothills Animal Shelter in May 2017. He was sixish years old and was being "rehomed." The people that gave him up said he was neutered; he was not. He has had my constant attention since then. I'm retired. I got Brodie from a hairdresser's client. Grandma explained that her daughter and granddaughter were giving him up.
Brodie is termed as an "old gentleman." He does nothing quickly. He has been a soothing companion to the 35+ other dogs I fostered for a few years. For the first four years I got him, he was wary of people and did not cuddle with me. He now will approach people to be petted and allows being picked up. To this day, he sleeps in my bed rarely.
Brodie was given away at 6+ years old. The day after I got him I vowed he would not have another owner. He is my heart. Though he's afraid of rain when he's inside, he'll go outside in the rain to do his business. It will take him a half hour twice a day to mark his territory. But if it's colder than 20 degrees, he'll mark as close to the stairs as he can get, and then back inside.
Brodie got ear infections. Adams County Hospital is treating him for "ear cytology," a yeast infection. I had to pay for the first treatment, exam, and lab costs from a fixed SS income. He has a follow up treatment Friday, July 29 for a second, final cleaning and soothing treatment.
Fixed income from SS. I am always stretching dollars every month, which can be four to five weeks. I do food bank, which includes dog food (yay!), but still come down to the wire. If I can get help, I can work on getting Brodie's teeth fixed.
