Bruce is a 5-year-old Shar Pei in Oakland, NJ, who needs $2,000 for urgent surgery.

Bruce was sitting alone and cold in a crowded inner-city shelter.

He suffered from painful eye and ear conditions and needed surgery. But with so many adopters and rescues struggling financially, no one came to save Bruce.

When Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge first heard about Bruce, they worried they couldn't afford his care or save him. But then decided Bruce needed a break in 2023!

"We couldn't stand the thought of him sitting there, lonely and not receiving the vet care he needed," Amy H., with the rescue, tells Waggle.

So the group rushed over and picked up Bruce.

Now Bruce needs your help so he can get the surgery he needs to fix the narrowing in his ear canals and painful entropian eyelids. (That's when a dog's eyelashes face inward and scratch their corneas -- it can eventually cause blindness.)

"The cost of food, supplies, and medical services to care for animals is at an all-time high," Amy says. "Bruce doesn't know what is happening with the economy. He only knows he wants to be cared for, loved, and get the medical attention he deserves."
