About this campaign
Hi, my name is Pyrce. For the last seven years, my life has been saved and enriched by the best and most heroic black lab, Bruce, my diabetic alert service dog. He has been with me since he was 8 weeks old and with me through so many things. Adventures, travels, scrapes, and a worldwide pandemic.
He first came into my life in 2015, right before Christmas.
Bruce loves to be with me and goes everywhere I go. We sleep together, eat together, watch movies together, and especially go fishing together. He loves and is loved by all my family, who especially appreciate his life saving service for me having multiple times alerted when my blood sugar dropped dangerously during the night.
Bruce is the best dog ever! He loves walking on the beach. He loves snow! He loves salmon from Alaska. He loves any and all good food and is always appreciative of treats from my plate! He can be the goofiest and most independent minded dog ever. But he always knows what his special role is in helping me to live life with Type 1 diabetes.
Over the last month Bruce had not been feeling himself. He started to exhibit swelling in his abdomen and lack of energy. After taking him to a Kenai Animal Hospital, he was diagnosed with swelling and fluid around his heart and an unknown cause. Taking him to a specialist cardiologist, Dr. Dawn Webber, of Arctic Echoes the cause was determined as a possible blood clot or tumor.
Having lost my job during the global Covid-19 pandemic and being unemployed due to my health condition I have been experiencing strenuous personal financial difficulties along with personal unforeseen struggles, such as car problems, housing and Bruce's medical care needs.
