We adopted Buck through a rescue at the beginning of May via Petfinder. He was found abandoned in Houston in January and was treated for many ailments including mange, hookworms, fleas and tapeworms.

When we adopted Buck we were told that he had had heartworm but was treated and was all set. However when we brought him to our own vet, Bristol County Animal Clinic, it was discovered that he still had an active case of heartworm because the rescue chose to do the slow kill method which is not the recommended course of treatment.

Buck fit into our lives seamlessly. It feels like we have had him forever. Even though he had been abandoned, he loves everyone he meets. He is 114 lbs of pure love and cuddles.

This was a sudden and unexpected major expense and we have a limited emergency fund. I have pet insurance however this does not cover prior conditions. I tried reaching out to the rescue however they refused to offer any help.
