About this campaign

My dog Buddha came into my life when I was a senior in college, eleven years ago. My friends and I had an incredibly difficult year and he came at just the right time and saved us. He has lived with me through all the ups and downs of life, ever since. One of the scariest things he has helped me through is an emergency open heart surgery after which he became my service animal.

Buddha lives with me in my small apartment in Los Angeles where he spends his days taking walkies, eating delicious food, chasing my cat, and barking at passersby from his favorite perch in my window. He comes with me to work where he provides emotional support to my many clients who are dealing with various traumas.

Buddha is such a little prince. Anyone who meets him immediately falls in love and everyone is always so surprised to hear he's not a puppy in age because he's got the personality of a puppy! Being my service dog, he's taken care of me in some of my lowest moments but his love extends to all creatures. I have fostered over 50 cats, kittens, and dogs and he has supported all of them!

Buddha was diagnosed with lymphoma in January of this year and has already begun chemotherapy. He is a candidate for a bone marrow transplant which has been known to actually cure lymphoma but with continued chemotherapy and this procedure, he is looking at more than $40,000 worth of treatments. He is currently being treated at Access Animal Specialty Hospital by Dr. Colleen Tansey.

I live alone and I am personally responsible for my own increased medical bills, some of which I had to pay nearly $6,000 out of pocket last year. I am currently on a payment plan for my student loans and the cost of Buddha's treatments.
