About this campaign
Buddy is a 7-year-old German Shepherd who means the world to my dad. My dad is a disabled police officer living on a fixed income, and Buddy is more than just a pet—he is family, a companion, and a source of daily support.
They live out in the country on our family’s land, with hundreds of acres and no close neighbors. Buddy is extremely well-trained and well-behaved, so when he didn’t come home one morning, my dad immediately knew something was wrong. Buddy never wanders off. For over 24 hours, our entire family searched nonstop, fearing the worst.
When my dad finally found him, our hearts sank. Buddy had been trapped, his front paw caught in a small game trap that was found on our property—one that should not have been there. We are still trying to figure out who placed it there and why. Buddy had been stuck and injured, waiting helplessly until my dad found him.
At first, Buddy was exhausted but eating, drinking, and trying to walk. Now, several days later, his paw is swollen, and he no longer wants to put weight on it. Two of his toes appear to be injured and possibly broken, and he needs veterinary care to prevent further pain or long-term damage.
My dad depends on Buddy more than most people realize. After breaking his back in the line of duty, my dad also lost hearing in his left ear. Buddy helps him every day by alerting him to sounds and giving him peace of mind—especially living out in the country. Beyond that, Buddy is my dad’s constant companion and emotional support.
While the vet bills may not be astronomical, any unexpected expense is overwhelming when you live on a fixed income. My dad is the kind of person who would go without food or necessities himself before ever denying his dog the care he needs—but he shouldn’t have to make that choice.
We are asking for help to cover Buddy’s veterinary expenses so he can heal, stay comfortable, and continue being by my dad’s side where he belongs. Any amount helps, and we are incredibly grateful for your kindness, support, and prayers.
Thank you for helping Buddy and my dad during this difficult time. ❤️
