Buddy’s Fight: Help Give This Sweet Senior a Second Chance

Buddy, a sweet and gentle 10-year-old mix, is fighting for his life—and he needs your help. Over the past four days, D&A Animal Rescue has been on a heartbreaking journey, desperately seeking answers about Buddy’s health. After multiple visits to three different emergency rooms, we now know that Buddy is facing a critical situation.

He has a mass in his spleen, and the news doesn’t get easier. His liver and kidneys are in poor condition, and he is severely anemic. While doctors are still working to fully understand his condition, one thing is clear: Buddy’s only hope for survival is surgery to remove his spleen. However, his blood work needs to improve before surgery can even be considered, as he is currently too weak.

Despite the uncertainty, one thing is certain—Buddy needs immediate medical care to survive. D&A has already spent over $4,000 on emergency vet visits and tests, and the road ahead will be even more costly. The surgery Buddy so desperately needs will cost at least $4,000, and D&A can’t do it without your help.

Buddy is a loyal and loving dog, and now he needs us to return that love by giving him the chance to heal and live. Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward saving Buddy’s life. With your help, we can give him a fighting chance.

Update 2/22/25:
Buddy has made small improvements. He’s now eating and drinking on his own, which is a positive sign. D&A have an appointment scheduled at Texas A&M, where they hope to get a clearer picture of what’s going on and determine the best way to move forward.

Update 2/27/25:
D&A took Buddy to Texas A&M Veterinary Clinic, where he underwent several examinations. They are relieved to share that he is stable enough to proceed with surgery for his spleen removal, which is critical due to the risk of the mass rupturing and causing internal bleeding.
The estimated cost for the surgery and the necessary exams is around $7,500. D&A understands this is a significant amount, and is humbly reaching out for any support you might be able to offer to help cover these expenses.
