Buddy is a seven-year-old Pit Bull in Ossining, NY, who needs $1,046 for tumor removal and dental surgery.

Until A Good Dog Rescue saved Buddy, he kept drawing the shortest straw in life! He couldn't catch a break.

Animal control officers picked him up running down a major road three months ago.

"He had no collar, chip, or tags. He was scared, alone, and confused, desperately searching for his family," Lisa S., from the rescue, tells Waggle.

Sadly, Buddy spent the last few months in the shelter waiting for someone to bring him home. "No owner, adopter, or rescue would take him, so we did," Lisa says.

Soon after Buddy arrived in his foster home, his new family observed he was friendly, loving, and needed medical help.

"He had swelling between his paws and rotten teeth," Lisa says. "We brought him into Family Vet Care, where they informed us he will need surgery to remove cysts on his paws and an extensive dental cleaning. The bill is steep, $1046, but Buddy needs to be able to live his life free of pain finally."

What amazed the rescue is that after all Buddy has been through, he never stops smiling. "If you look closely, you will see a ton of tiny scars on Buddy's face," Lisa adds. "Still, he never complains, does what he's told, lives in the moment, and doesn't ask for a single thing other than love. He longs for a home, for someone to choose him, and for someone that acknowledges his scars yet still falls in love with his character."
