About this campaign
Michelle W. says the day she and her family adopted Butters from an animal shelter was one of the best days of their lives. "She is the most loving dog in the whole world," Michelle tells Waggle. "We may not have much, no new house, no new car, or lots of money, but she gives us the one thing no one can put a price on, and that's true love for her family."
Michelle thought she did the right thing and signed Butters up for a vet wellness plan to cover her health care. So when a growth on Butters leg flared from a tiny bump to an enormous round lump, Michelle figured the surgery needed to remove it would be covered. But instead, she got terrible news: her dog's operation is not covered. "It's starting to really bother her. It's right where she bends her leg," Michelle says. "We are concerned about it."
Sadly, Michelle and her family do not have the money to pay for the procedure. "If we can't afford the surgery, we are very worried that it will lead to her being put down. We are a low-income family, and it saddens us. This would break our hearts," she exclaims. Michelle and her family are now one of the thousands facing the gut-wrenching possibility of economic euthanasia. That's when an owner can't afford their beloved pet's medical care, and the animal may have to be euthanized to alleviate their suffering.
Instead, Michelle turned to Waggle for help. Waggle's mission is to end economic euthanasia. Michelle is hopeful Waggle's generous sponsors and donors can help her family raise the money for Butters' surgery at Banfield Animal Hospital.
"We would be ecstatic. It would make us the happiest people in the world," Michelle says. "Butters lives every day making sure we happy and taken care of, and we want to take care of her."
