Feb. 2023 While working as a Vet Tech Cairo was brought to our hospital for EUTHANASIA. He was not supposed to be my patient but I ending up taking his appointment. He was diabetic and not being treated for it. His owner said that he seemed to be in pain. I fell in love with him and made arrangements to adopt him. That was 16 mos ago. He gets insulin twice daily. He turned 14 on 5/1. He is perfect

Cairo ended up at 2 ER’s the last few wks. Labored breathing, yellow nasal discharge, bloody drool, ocular discharge. He has ulcers under his tongue and on gums and abscessed teeth. 3 days no food or water and BG was crazy high. Feeding tube placed, Convenia injection, pain meds. Calicivirus test neg. Cairo fit perfectly into his new home with 5 feline siblings, a dog, bird, + turtle. He literally follows me everywhere I go! He wakes up out of a dead sleep if he senses me leaving the room. He has the loudest meow and the most fierce headbutts! He loves to be held and carried. I can’t picture my life without him and he has PLENTY of life left in him and love to give! He is a fighter, my BFF!

We both work full time. Cairo and his brother are insulin dependent diabetics and his sister is on meds for hyperthyroidism, and Alveolar bone expansion. I’ve spent almost 2k in ER visits already for Cairo and he will not heal without surgery + he needs an oral biopsy.
