About this campaign

Hello, thanks for taking the time to read about Cali. Cali is a 6 ½- 7 month old female Pit Bull. I rescued her from a precarious situation a few months ago and already cannot imagine life without sweet, sassy, high maintenance Cali demanding my undivided attention, wanting to play never ending fetch, or forever yearning for yet another treat. Cali and I have been inseparable since I rescued her in mid October of 2019. I am a disabled single mom who has raised her son and I live alone. My son is now 25, he just graduated from college and has moved to Nashville to pursue his music career so I was going through some loneliness before Cali came into my life.

I named her Cali because it was a nick name of mine years ago and I was going to name a business that I've been hoping to launch that name and I one of my emails that I've had for 20 years is Calicoastgirl@gmail.com. SO she was so precious and young when I found her, I thought it would be a perfect name for her. I don't have any other pets and Cali and I are inseparable. I do have a friend who has a pitbull named Freya who comes over to play with Cali and they have a blast. I have no family in California since my son left. My parents are in their early 80's and live back East as does my sister and the rest of my family. I am here in Orange County by myself.

Cali loves to play fetch, go on walks, runs, play with other dogs etc. Its hard to even talk about it now because since she was hit by a car, she is now basically 3 legged until I can get her this crucial surgery.

Unfortunately, Last week, Cali was hit by a car after I foolishly allowed my neighbor to take her out for a run. Although the woman blatantly went against my instructions and ran my puppy on a busy street, while riding a bike, in rush hour traffic. I can blame none but myself for entrusting my puppy's safety to such an incredibly reckless and uncaring soul. I am truly sick about my precious Cali’s injuries, her pain but most of al because she would lose her leg without this crucial and expensive surgery.

Thank God, she is very much alive and suffered no cerebral trauma, she's still her wonderful little self. However, after going to the vet emergency hospital twice, multiple Vet office visits, and a grip of veterinarians examining her xrays , the consensus seems to be unanimous. Apparently Cali's upper tibia is fractured, the region behind her knee cap. Evidently this is a very complicated fracture and requires an orthopedic veterinary specialist and a larger chunk of change.

As Cali is still growing, it is far more critical that she has surgery as soon as possible to hopefully mitigate any chance of further suffering, injury or irreparable complications and/or disabilities.

The lowest quote I’ve received for this type of surgery with the plethora of added costs is $3,600. However, I have also received estimates of $5,000 and $6,000.

This accident has already cost more than $600 yet this surgery is imperative or she will lose her leg. Although we still have a long way to go to get Cali her crucial surgery and ultimately her complete physical rehabilitation and recovery, I already owe a huge debt of gratitude to you all who have already helped lift Cali to this threshold.

I feel that I should thank the people who have so generously helped me with Cali’s medical bills. Thank you so very much to Joan H., Patti D., Larry’s Mom and Austin for the ride to the emergency room. I am truly grateful for all of your kindness, compassion, patience and mutual love of animals. I truly appreciate all of your generosity and I thank you all for your genuine and true decency.

Little Cali is unable to use her injured leg at all and will most likely lose it altogether if she does not receive this critical surgery. I must say just seeing her so injured is gut wrenching as she is so very young and she truly deserves to have her little body repaired.

I will upload the previous invoices/ expenditures, as well as the pending and critical surgery estimates as I receive them (if I'm able and allowed to).

Any contributions are greatly needed, prayed for, welcomed and appreciated.I will keep anyone who is interested abreast of Cali’s progress and prognosis until she’s back to 100%. Thanks again for your time, kindness, compassion, generosity and love. God Bless!

Sincerely,
Beth & Cali
