About this campaign

Callie was a stray cat. She was picked up by the Dyer County Humane Society. She was born Nov 8, 2020 and was a year and 3 months old. She was losing weight and was having trouble eating. It appeared that her mouth hurt her. Her health was very poor and they contacted Paws to Care for assistance.

Callie was taken into the Paws to Care network of foster care. She was taken to the veterinarian office for spay to prevent her from having kittens that could wind up in the same severe condition. During the exam, the vet discovered that she had a disease called Stomatitis. This is often a fatal disease and is extremely painful and makes eating almost impossible.

Callie is a sweet, beautiful calico cat. The disease that was diagnosed causes the cats' immune system to have a deadly reaction to the bacteria in their mouths. In order to save her and give her good quality of life, we had to have all of her teeth, except her canines, surgically removed.
She has now recovered and was given a good prognosis.

Callie was treated by the Paris Veterinary clinic in Paris, TN.

Paws to Care budgets for veterinarian emergency expenses and spay and neuter costs. However, this case of Stomatitis was unexpected and is beyond our budget. We are asking for donations to defray the increased cost of this initial treatment cot and ongoing dental exams.
