Calvin came into my life over 2 years ago as an 8-month old puppy rescue from Family Dog Rescue in San Francisco, where I volunteered at the time. He was a fluffy, loving, and gentle "shepherd mix" who we soon discovered to be a German - Husky- Pyrenees - Chow mix. He quickly grew to 60 pounds of floofy love. Calvin lives in SF where he enjoys the cool foggy weather and dog friendly city.

Calvin loves food and uses his pleading puppy dog eyes to get it. His favorites are watermelon, strawberries, carrots, and broccoli. He waits patiently under the cutting board while I prepare dinner for snacks. He is the sweetest most gentle dog ever, always ready to give a kiss. He is a lazy boy, spends most of his day lounging after a long hike through the presidio. His husky side loves snow!

Calvin is obsessed with ping pong after watching an exciting game once at his grandPAWrents house. Just the sound of the ball tapping lightly on the table will bring him racing into the room. His favorite trick is 'spin' and he does it repeatedly amongst zoomies at the dog park to get everyone excited. He is a social butterfly and gets along with dogs big and small. He thinks the loofah is alive.

In 2020 Calvin was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, pemphigus foliaceus. After months of misdiagnosis, weight loss, lethargy, appetite loss, hair loss and painful itchy skin, I was thankful, but unfortunately there is no cure. My partner and I adopted Calvin together, but have recently decided to separate, leaving me with full custody. I'm a full time grad student, with minimal regular income. We've spent thousands over the years with some insurance reimbursement, but this surgery is not covered.
