About this campaign

Candy girl came into my life 2 yrs ago when I was a homeless case manager in San Diego. Candy and her dad were living under a highway after losing their housing. She took to me immediately and it was love at first bark! Candy has become my dog this week due to her human dad’s medical issues and frequent hospitalizations. He’s grateful she is so loved in my home and found a playmate in my son.

Candy had a surgery last year to remove bladder stones that were too big to pass and due to her diet being inconsistent on the streets, the bladder stones have returned and gotten worse. Her left kidney is infected and she is in need of another life saving surgery to remove the stones. She is being treated with love and care at B Street Veterinary Hospital in San Diego

Candy is a lover girl. She must be cuddled up under a blanket with me to sleep and her little snores bring a huge smile to my face, as well as my young son, who has grown to love her as much as I do. She loves to fetch her squeaker toys and wrestle you for them. When I’ve been away and return, she howls with excitement and smothers me with wet kisses. Candy is the sweetest dog I’ve ever met.

I recently lost my job and have been barely scraping by on unemployment while I frantically search for work. Candy being sick has devastated me because she needs another life saving surgery I cant pay for. I feel helpless. My credit cards are maxed, including the CARE credit
