Canelli is a 11-year-old Lab mix in Burbank, CA, who needs $2,000 for DNA sequencing followed by targeted therapy.

Canelli came into my life as a 4-month-old little ragamuffin pup in April 2009. She had been abandoned in the West Texas countryside and faced an ice storm and getting caught in a fence before we found each other. I named her after the Canelli region in Italy - I love the way the word feels! She also goes by Canelli Belly and Canelli Bear. We have 3 more rescues: Ally (dog), Java and Malkah (cats)

Canelli and Java the cat love to play together. They share a special bond as Java welcomed Canelli into the household 11 years ago. Java will lay down and intertwine his paws with Canelli's. She loves to stretch out on the couch with anyone, even visitors! She makes friends with everyone she meets. All the animals think the bed belongs to them, so they end up in a big pile at the end of the day.

Cancer treatments are incredibly costly, and on top of that need, the pandemic caused us to lose work and income. It breaks my heart to see her struggle to walk or even lay comfortably. This dog really knows how to live, and she has overcome so much already. We can't give up

Canelli has malignant melanoma. It first showed up in 2014 as a tumor on her leg, which we had removed. It came back in 2019 in the same spot, but it had spread too far for surgery. We amputated the leg in February, but it has already come back aggressively. Her tumor is growing at a rapid rate, so we need to do something as quickly as possible! Her vet is Dr. Shokar at Pinnacle Vet.

Canelli lives for fetch! If she had her way, we would play it all day every day. And beware to all squirrels and lizards in her path. She thinks she's a mighty hunter, but the squirrels just laugh at her - from a safe distance! On our walks, both dogs find a sunny spot to roll in the grass and sunbathe. These moments are pure bliss! Her zeal for life and ability to live in the moment inspires us!
