About this campaign

Caper was found in the Tennessee mountains at just 8 weeks old. He and his litter mates were found by an animal lover who turned them into a local rescue to help them find their proper home. Caleb and I had been looking for the perfect pup to join our family for about a year. We were looking for a sweetheart who loves to go on hikes and adventures but also is comfortable in a New York apartment.

Caper is the life of the party!! Every time you walk through the door whether you were gone for 30 seconds or 2 hours he wags his tail non-stop and spins around in excitement. Caper gets excited by humans and dogs a like. His best friend, Cooper, and him could play non stop for hours. His favorite creature is probably babies, he’s been known to climb into a stroller or two...

I am a social worker and make a limited income. My partner is in graduate school for religion. We saved for a dog for a year, but unexpected vet bills can still pile up. Caper just contracted giardiasis, a common parasite from the dog park. That expense was about $400.

Caper was left alone for the first time, as it was time for me to return to work. His favorite toy (the UFO pictured above) that he’s had for months and never tried to eat, he swallowed an alien hole. This was discovered after we saw him vomiting blood in the morning. We were terrified and are happy it’s not a longer term problem.

Caper loves chasing after squirrels and groundhogs in Fort Tryon park. He’ll spend literally minutes slowly stalking them and often brings in an audience. Caper has an infectious smile that makes everyone around him happy, people frequently say he looks like a dog from a movie (but always say a different one). He has just discovered his voice and loves to roll around and bark at home.
