Captain is a 10 year old Dachshund in Fairfield, CA, who needs $10,000 for Parathyroidectomy Surgery with Cystotomy Surgery.

Captain came into our lives February of 2016 when my daughter and I took a visit to the local pound. We then adopted him when he was 3 months old and he has been with us ever since. He (now 10 years old) has grown alongside my daughter (23 years old) in our family home. Although my daughter has moved, Captain still lives here with me and she still comes to visit him as much as she possibly can.

Captain has primary hyperparathyroidism which has led to hypercalcemia. He also is confirmed to have urinary stones, stones in his urethra, as well as small fragments in his kidneys. The vet has recommended Captain for surgery to remove the thyroid gland with the tumor and to remove his stones from his bladder and urethra. His surgery will be performed at UC Davis Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

Captain is an extremely happy dog and can be seen smiling in his photos. He loves humans (especially his family), other dog friends, and his cat sister "Kitty". He also loves food so he will do anything for treats, including shaking hands. His favorite activity to do is go on walks which my daughter rewards him with his favorite whip cream pup cup. He's our sweet boy and we love him very much!

My daughter and Captain are two peas in a pod as she has also just recently needed to have surgery herself. With this, her college, and not making enough at my job, we don't have the money to pay for his surgery. It will mean so much to my family to have our baby okay again!
