About this campaign

Carmey needs 6-10 of her teeth extracted. Two weeks ago we rescued Carmey from a situation in which she wasn't being cared for properly. She is in daily pain and is afraid of eating. I've had the vet treat her double ear infection and I'm now feeding her better food, but the dental surgery is so expensive. She is incredibly sweet.

Carmey is a lovely, calm, sweet presence in our home. She is already helping our small, nervous dog to relax more. She loves to join us in my son's room for his bedtime routine. She is always ready to play fetch in the yard with a ball. She is the perfect fit for us, we just want to see her healthy and living without the fear, pain, and risk that her dental condition is giving her.

Carmey is one of the gentlest, friendliest dogs I have ever met. When I take her to the dog park, she goes up to everyone and lays her head on their thighs until they pet her. She likes to run around in the snow in the backyard. She loves to be gently stroked between her eyes and down her nose -- it always makes her close her eyes and get sleepy. :)

As you can see from the photo, many of Carmey's teeth are rotten. The vets at the Bloomington Veterinary Hospital can't know for sure how many need to be extracted until she is under anesthesia, but they estimate 6-10 extractions. The surgery will allow Carmey to eat properly, eliminate her pain, and reduce the risk that she will develop a painful, life-threatening infection in her mouth.

I am a single mother with one child. Having a dog makes us feel like a family. I planned on getting some basic treatment for a newly rescued dog, but this dental surgery is beyond what I planned for. After this surgery, I know we will be able to give her the care she needs.
