About this campaign
His name was “Dog” – hit by a car and abandoned at the vet’s office, he needed a guardian angel.
Never having a name, never having a home, and never having visited a vet, “Dog” spent his life as an outdoor dog. As was inevitable, given his neglect over the 1.5 years of his life, he was hit by a car.
His pelvis was fractured, involving the hip, he had a gaping, bleeding wound and neurological damage is suspected. He was finally given the dignity of medical care when his “owner” took him to a hospital, his leg wrapped up in a makeshift cast to cover the huge gash from impact. They opted for euthanasia.
Luckily, his guardian angel, Ben, intervened. The kind staff at the hospital saw how incredibly sweet this boy was and sought out rescue. They knew he deserved better. A rescuer had seen Ben’s story and the wonderful care he got, despite all odds stacked against him, and she reached out for help. “Dog” quickly became Charlie Brown, and we promised him a chance at life, in honor of Ben.
Charlie Brown rapidly declined while kenneled and waiting for rescue – his mobility decreased, pain increased, and he is showing signs of neurological damage in his back end. As soon as we heard his story, we knew we needed to act.
He is being driven from VA to NJ, where A Pathway to Hope has joined with the Ramapo Bergen Animal Refuge, to provide Charlie Brown with emergency medical care.
Charlie Brown will immediately be admitted to the hospital. He has a long journey to recovery.
From a life of loneliness outdoors, to being welcomed into a family of rescuers, volunteers, supporters, and love, Charlie Brown new life starts today – with you by his side!
