About this campaign
Many of you know Charlie and how much he means to me. I rescued Charlie in October of 2018. He was an abused and abandoned hunting dog. When I rescued him, he had barely any fur on his back over his hips, he was malnourished, had a horrible skin condition and had heart worms. I spent our first year together loving the years of neglect out of him (and spending lots of money on his recovery).
Charlie is my child. If a place does not allow dogs, I don't go because Charlie can't come. The only time Charlie is not by my side is when I am at work. Charlie sleeps in bed right next to me and protects me and the house from anything that could happen. He is the most loving, goofy, precious, gentle giant. I cannot imagine a day without him.
Simply put, I cannot afford the surgery. I just finished graduate school and have just started my career. I have put so much money and love into Charlie, and I really just need help with this one.
Charlie has a torn Left ACL/CCL. I have done everything in my power to handle it conservatively, from buying a laser and doing laser therapy, to doing hydrotherapy with a life jacket for Charlie, to massaging his leg everyday and even buying a custom brace. Unfortunately he needs the surgery. This was confirmed by Dr. Siebert at Charleston Vet Referral Center where he would have the surgery.
It is amazing to me how sweet charlie is after all those years of neglect. I'd say he would never hurt a fly, but he actually does like catching flies. Let's just say a fly is the only thing that charlie would ever hurt. He has a heart of gold and a goofy demeanor that would cheer anyone up. He deserves the world after what he went through, and it has always been my goal to give him the best life.
