About this campaign
Charlie ended up in a shelter that euthanizes dogs for space reasons during the holiday season because his humans were moving and they surrendered him to the animal control facility.
Soon after he arrived, the shelter staff noticed Charlie was limping. Then they realized his nails were hideously long and overgrown. They were so long that he could not walk well. You can see it in the video.
Lucky Lab heard about Charlie, and the shelter said he had to be out of the facility by a certain date, or they'd have to kill him. Our rescue had a wonderful foster mom offer to foster him and that saved his life.
After Charlie went to his foster home, his foster mom noticed he had sores on his paws and feet, likely from living with his nails being neglected for so long. He was also anemic, had a low thyroid, and needed medication--he still has to be neutered and treated for heartworm.
This poor senior boy who ended up in an animal control facility deserves so much more! After we treat him for his many medical issues we plan on finding him the best, most loving home with humans who will never leave him behind or neglect him again.
