About this campaign

Charlie lives with us and our 8 year old son. My husband is already in a wheelchair full time and needs round the clock help since his right arm is paralyzed.

Charlie was originally diagnosed with IVDD which brought us to the Vetinary Specialty Center in Bannockburn Illinois, however, once we got there we found out he also had a 1.5 cm thickening in his stomach wall and pneumonia. He was immediately put on full time oxygen.

Charlie is the bestest boy. He literally communicated not only though his eyes and the occasional howl or bark, but he has the BEST timing with snorts. It's hysterical. He always calls my husband out with a snort or lightens the mood. He can be out cold and he still snorts right when we need a laugh most. He's the light in an often difficult life navigating my husband's full time health challenges

This was an unexpected medical emergency that required us to spend 40K just to keep him alive, before even being able to actually address his IVDD which would give him the ability to walk again. Surgery would be an additional 20K, or he can become paralyzed for good.
