About this campaign

Charlie is a rescue for International Hearing Dog Inc that rescues me every day! I’m deaf and as my service dog, he helps me hear the world around me and keeps me safe by locating sounds and listening for danger. I’ve had this amazing boy since the day I received him 5 years ago and he has become an important part of my family!

Charlie is a goofball all day every day. When he’s not working he acts like a puppy with my son and has been a huge asset to my sons and my relationship as he has helped me hear for him in other rooms when he was young (my son is now 8 years old). His calm and loving spirit makes him the most amazing cuddler and best listener of problems.

In 2018 I received Charlie and it was the best day of my life! He is focused and calm but above all he loves love and will do anything to make you smile (see pictures). Everyone falls in love with him when they meet him.

A couple weeks ago I noticed a light limping in his back left leg that had gotten progressively worse. Between college and my job, we are constantly on the go so I figured his joints were being overused. I gave him some joint and hip vitamins that helped for a short time but a few days ago I took him to the Vet because he could barely walk. The vet said he has a torn ligament, requiring surgery

The Vet suggested a Modified Maquet Procedure (ranging from 4100-4900) is preferred for permanent fix. They stated that doing nothing or doing a type of laser surgery would only be a temporary fix and since he is a service dog and not a pet, he is at Risk to retire
