About this campaign

Cherry is a gentle community street dog who was cared for and looked out for by a kind neighbor. He was a familiar, friendly presence—safe, known, and loved. One day, that neighbor found him severely injured and bleeding, and everything changed.

Cherry was rushed to Stray Animal Foundation of India (SAFI). We immediately brought him to a clinic where veterinarians immediately began emergency diagnostics, X-rays, and life-saving treatment. The veterinary team believes Cherry was hit by a vehicle. One of the bones in his leg was fully exposed, and his injuries were far more serious than they first appeared.

Cherry had vomited blood and was suffering from internal bleeding, placing him in critical condition. Due to the severity of his trauma, he was transferred to a 24/7 emergency hospital for intensive care, close monitoring, and stabilization.

Veterinarians are doing everything possible to save Cherry’s life. Sadly, due to the extent of the damage to his leg, he will likely require amputation to prevent further suffering and complications.

Despite unimaginable pain, Cherry has continued to fight. He trusted the people who helped him, even while terrified and hurt—and that trust may be what saves him.

We are urgently asking for your help to cover emergency diagnostics and X-rays, intensive care hospitalization and treatment, surgery, including a likely life-saving amputation, medications, pain management, and recovery care.

Cherry didn’t choose the streets, and he didn’t choose this accident. But with your compassion, he can survive—and go on to live a life free from pain. Please consider donating today to help Cherry heal. Your support can turn a moment of tragedy into a future filled with safety, comfort, and care.

2/27/26 Update

Because of your compassion, Cherry is still here — and he is healing.

After being found severely injured with a fully exposed bone, internal bleeding, and life-threatening trauma, Cherry fought through emergency stabilization and intensive care. The damage to his leg was too severe to save, and veterinarians made the difficult but necessary decision to proceed with amputation to end his pain and give him a chance at survival.

Cherry has now had his surgery. We are relieved to share that he is recovering well. His incision is healing, his vital signs are stable, and he is slowly adjusting to life on three legs. The road ahead will include continued monitoring, pain management, and careful rehabilitation — but his body is responding.

Emotionally, Cherry is still guarded. After everything he endured, he does not yet trust humans easily. Trauma leaves invisible wounds, too. But even in his fear, we see the sweetness in him. He is a gentle boy at heart — watching quietly, learning that not every hand brings harm.

Recovery for dogs like Cherry isn’t just physical. It takes patience, consistency, and compassion to help them feel safe again. And because of you, we can give him that time.

Your donations made his emergency care and amputation possible. If you’re able, please consider continuing to support Cherry’s recovery. Funds will help cover his post-operative care, medications, rehabilitation, and the ongoing support he needs to regain strength and confidence.

Cherry survived the unthinkable. Now he deserves the chance to heal — fully, safely, and surrounded by kindness. Please donate and share his story. Together, we can help this sweet boy learn that his future will be defined by care, not trauma.

3/21/26 Update

We are overjoyed to share the final update on Cherry — and it’s the news we’ve all been hoping for. Cherry has fully recovered and is doing great. After being found with devastating injuries, internal bleeding, and a severely damaged leg that required amputation, Cherry’s journey has been nothing short of incredible. The road to recovery included emergency stabilization, surgery, pain management, and careful rehabilitation. Through it all, Cherry showed quiet resilience and a gentle spirit.

Today, Cherry has healed well physically and has successfully adjusted to life on three legs. Dogs are incredibly adaptable, and Cherry is proving that every day — moving comfortably, regaining confidence, and enjoying a life free from the pain he once endured.

Even more heartwarming, Cherry is continuing to grow emotionally. The fear he once carried is slowly being replaced with trust as he experiences consistent care, kindness, and safety. Watching him relax and settle into his new normal has been truly special.

This happy ending would not have been possible without the generosity and compassion of supporters who stepped in when Cherry needed it most. Your donations helped cover his emergency treatment, life-saving amputation, medications, and recovery care.

Because of you, Cherry’s story did not end in tragedy. Instead, it became a story of survival, healing, and hope. From all of us — and from Cherry — thank you for giving this sweet boy the second chance he deserved.
