How Chester suffered such a horrific injury to his foot and where he came from is a mystery. But rescuers at One By One Animal Advocates know that he is one fantastic cat who needs your help!

"Chester just showed up at someone's house," Heather A., with the nonprofit group, tells Waggle. "He had no skin or tissue on his foot. We can't even speculate what happened."

Somehow Chester must have known or hoped the family inside the home would help him. And he was right! They posted about him on social media. When One By One heard about Chester, the group came to his rescue.

They raced him to Proctorville Animal Clinic. Unfortunately, the prognosis for his foot was grim. "The nerves were so damaged. There was no way to close the wound. He needed surgery to amputate his leg. He is already bouncing around after his operation, and we expect him to fully bounce back and be a happy cat ready to find his forever home," Heather says.

Despite being in pain, what really amazes Heather is how happy and friendly Chester is.

"It just speaks to the resilience of these animals," Heather adds. "I was just sickened to think how he feels and how he suffered. If he struggled to survive, we have to do what we can to help him."

Can you help Chester on the next steps of his journey to health?
