Chevy’s mother was found wandering in a busy downtown area where she was taken home by a friend to prevent her from being hurt or run over. They found out shortly after that she was pregnant, and tried to no avail to find her owner. We were just purchasing our first home and I was looking for a new best friend to share it with us, so we chose Chevy when he was only 3 days old!

Chevy has one fur brother and two human sisters who he loves to play catch with. He has a blast going for rides in Dad’s truck and always gets spoiled with a cheeseburger. Mom is his favorite snuggle buddy and he could take naps with her all day long. If he doesn’t want to wake up yet, he’ll grumble and stick his head under the covers. He also loves rolling in the grass or basking in the sun!

This expense is sudden , unexpected, and steep, but Chevy could have a few good years left with a family who loves him deeply if we are able to treat him as the oncologist suggests. Further, he could go on to help other humans if he is able to participate in the trial!

Sadly, Chevy has an aggressive form of bone cancer in his left front leg. It is very painful. The oncologist believes he can have a great quality of life by removing the source of the pain immediately, followed by chemo treatments for any metastasis. We would also like to enroll him in a cancer trial in the future, to not only help him now, but hopefully to help humans in the future!

He’s hilariously devious, and likes to convince his human sisters to play catch, then fakes them out by chasing the ball, leaving it across the yard, and waiting for them to pick it up. When Grandma calls on the phone, he *must* make himself seem or heard by nosing the phone or breathing into the mic. If his fur brother won’t play with him, he will stand over him and whine until he gets his way.
