Chewie is a 10-year-old Yorkie in Middleton, WI who needs $1,300 for oral or periodontal surgery.

Chewie has been with us for about a year and a half. He wasn't living his best life (he was most often in a kennel in a basement) so I added him to our family. He was 9 years old when I got him. He wasn't properly potty trained. After a few months of working on it, he got the hang of it! He also had horrible teeth that I later realized would need to be dealt with but I didn't know the severity.

Chewie is the best snuggler! He loves snuggling with his mom and dad the best but every now and then he snuggles with his big doggy brother. He sleeps in bed with us at night, always next to mom. He's a super chill little guy until we're going hiking! Then his spunky spirit comes out! He runs so fast and thinks he's the boss! Whenever he is excited he sneezes too! It's hilarious!

I've been out of work for a few months and with the current virus situation, I'm not sure when I'll be able to find a job. I don't want my poor Chewie to suffer and I fear that he could eventually get an infection that could go to his heart and we could lose him.

Because of Chewie's terrible teeth, he currently has an infection. We have antibiotics but this is just a temporary solution. He needs to have surgery, likely having them all extracted. This is very costly but if it's not done he will continue to be in pain. I have now found a less expensive, but still great quality, vet!

When I first got Chewie I wasn't sure if I would keep him or just help him get a new home. His dorky smile and his constant snuggling won me over. I soon realized that I loved him so much and he wasn't going anywhere! He is a part of our family and now I can't imagine not having him here. If you're ever having a bad day, he hops up on your lap and you just feel happier.
