Chewie is a 2 year old Shih Tzu in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $13,000 for Stomach Surgery.

Chewie came into our family in February of 2023. He quickly became the center of attention in our multi-generation home. His loving, cuddly nature captured everyone in our home. He is our daughter’s best friend, and my father’s lunch companion. We can’t imagine a day without him in our lives.

We can home from work on Friday, August 8th and found that the dog had thrown up multiple times. We decided to just watch him and see how he was doing. After a couple of hours we could tell that he was uncomfortable. We took him the Western Veterinary Center where we discovered that he had eaten something that was hard and too big for him to pass on his own and that surgery would be required.

Chewie loves to chase and play with his older “brother” Meeko. He is the sweetest, floppiest dog you will ever meet. He is definitely the definition of relaxed! He spends time with everyone but sleeps with our daughter every night. We call him our cat-dog as he loves to nap on the top of the couch.

We have never had a medical emergency like this before. My husband and I are both teachers and with the start of the school year things are tight. Chewie’s surgery is estimated at about $13,000. We don’t want to have to make the decision between life and death for him.
