About this campaign

We adopted Chewie from my niece. She is a huge Star wars fan and named her tiny dog after Chewbacca. Chewie is short for Chewbaca, he was so tiny as a pup he fit in a mug. Now he weighs 4 lbs. My niece recently started a family and Chewie found it hard to adjust. He was used to Mommies undivided attention! She knew we loved him and asked if we wanted to adopt him. The answer was YES!!!

When Chewie came to live with us, he bonded with his new mommy immediately! He never left my side( or arms)! He likes to sleep with me and burrows way down to the end of the bed. The first few nights I couldn't sleep cause I was afraid he'd suffocate or get squished. Our whole family already adored him and he loved all the attention from all of us!

Every morning Chewie wakes us up with kisses! When we go out , even for 1/2 an hour he is overjoyed to see us when we get home! He spins in circles and begs to be picked up. Then he burrows his head into my neck! Something that makes us laugh is after a bath he goes "crackerdog" rubbing his head and body all over the bedspread to dry off!

When we got Chewie we discovered he has a problem with his knee caps moving (luxating patellas) and that he was already stage 2-3 out of 4. Sometimes his kneecaps slide out of place so far that he cries out in pain. If left untreated, he will be in constant pain and become lame. He needs surgery to repair this problem.

My husband and I have a limited income and are both on disability. We know firsthand what it is like to suffer with a physical disability! It has been nearly a year since Chewies diagnosis and we have struggled to save for his surgery. Please help keep him active!
