Chewy is a 3-year-old Dachshund in Richardson, TX, who needs $2,000 for IVD surgery.

Chewy came into our life the day before Christmas 2017 and has been spreading only love since then. 25 years after we got our first dachshund puppy, Pepe, in 1995, we met up the exact same, caring breeder from Texas. We chose to name him Chewbacca due to the color of his coat and love of his to communicate with his mouth. The nickname "Chewy" instantly fit him and we're so thankful for him.

Chewy sleeps in bed with our family every night, because we're a pack. He loves to be outside, laying out in the sun and running around the grass, protecting us from any squirrels or rabbits that may be creeping into our backyard. He has several pet stairs to help getting on and off of furniture, because he loves sitting in laps more than anything.

This surgery and rehab was very unexpected and we know that many other people out there who are very financially well-off and have a heart for animals the way that we do.

We are seeking help for a condition that will require ongoing/chronic treatment, due to the sensitivity of dachshund's backs. Chewy had emergency surgery on Thursday morning, September 16th, at BluePearl Pet Hospital in North Dallas, TX. We were recommended here by our Rockwall vet and after learning that this location sees and treats more than any other in DFW, we knew we were at the right place.

Chewy has several other best dog friends, including Luna, Harlow, Boris, Dexter, MJ, Coco & Mittens, Jimmy Dean, Beretta, Rousie, and MANY others, and even though they're pretty much all bigger than Chewbacca, he always finds a way make himself known. He makes everyone smile and will always come greet you if you get on your knees on his level.
