About this campaign

Chia was born a miracle; her mother struggled to give birth and ignored the little bundle - failing to even clean her. Still in the membrane, my wife scooped her up. After breaking her free from the amniotic sac, we could not get Chia to breathe. After several minutes of message and emergency kitty CPR she mewed and has been a blessing ever since.

Chia just always knows what you need when you need it. She has evolved into one of the best service animals I have ever seen. There are some days I’m unsure how my wife could make it through without Chia there to guide her out of a fibromyalgia flair-up or a depressive spiral. This WonderCat even consoles me when I feel helpless as my wife’s caregiver; there’s no other sound like a Chia purr.

COVID-19 has stressed our household to the max shrinking a single-income household to a half-income household. While lucky to still be working in some capacity it's a struggle to make ends meet. Chia means everything to us!

Chia is in need of emergency care. She has become severely dehydrated and is exhibiting a very high fever. Diagnostics has revealed large cysts around her kidneys and more testing is needed to determine what they are, the required treatment, and any long-term plan. Her immediate need is for ongoing fluids that require hospitalization.

Even at the height of her “kitten” phase, that funny and energetic “everything is new and I must pounce it” time in her life, she had an uncanny ability of service. It started simple, pawing at tears or nuzzle-purring through headaches but quickly turned to full empathy. Chia has a large family – 2 non-furry teens, 2 dogs that adore her, a cockatiel that preens her, a bunny friend, and a daughter.
