Chico is a 7-year-old Chihuahua/Mix in Joplin, MO, who needs $400 for Xray.

Chico came into my life in 2018, I moved out of home at 16 and a friend gifted him to me. Looking back now he helped me through a lot. I wasn’t told much about him.

He loves his brother Bruiser, we adopted bruiser in February of this year. I feel like his brother has help Chico stay young. My now fiancé and Chico have the best relationship. He used to be afraid of a lot of people and usually only likes to be around me but their bond is now inseparable.

Chico has a funny personality, when he is comfortable and opens up. He is my best friend, we’ve been through a lot of my early adulthood struggles with me. He’s the smiling face that makes me so happy when I come home from a long day.

When I got home the other day Chico didn’t run out of my room to greet me like usual. When I went in there and picked him up he yelped. I tried to check where the pain was coming from and the look in his eyes broke my heart. I applied for credit care and scratch pay and was denied. This is my last option, I know he’s getting older and things like this are going to happen but I wasn’t prepared.

With a fixed income it’s hard living paycheck to paycheck. I now know as soon as I get my check I’m putting all of my dogs on pet insurance but this came out of the blue. I am so thankful for a resource like this and when I’m in the position I can’t wait to give back.
