About this campaign
Chinacat Sunflower, my son, and I became a family of 3 in the summer of 2018. She is named after a Grateful Dead song. I met the tenacious black and white kitten at an adoption event at the local animal shelter. I thought having a cat would bring some calm and consistency to our lives. As it turned out, she is not calm, but she has been a constant in our lives ever since.
I noticed blood in Chinacat's litter box and took her to our vet at Eno Animal Hospital. Blood tests, ultrasound, and an x ray revealed that she is suffering from a large bladder stone. They prescribed antibiotics, pain meds, and prescription food. Chinacat is not improving as hoped. The doctor is recommending surgery to remove the stone before it becomes a life threatening urinary blockage.
Chinacat is a strange mix of nervous and nosy. She startles easily, but she never lets that stop her from checking something out. More than one vet has referred to her as "confident". She is great friends with my 13 year old son and mostly treats me like her employee. Her favorite pastimes include meowing loudly and knocking things off of shelves.
I am a single mom and I don't make a lot of money. The modest savings that I had was used up at our last vet appointment. Chinacat is family and I will do everything I can for her. But, I don't know if she can wait the amount of time it will take me to save up the money.
