Chip is a 5-year-old Orange Tabby in Lake Charles, LA, who needs $900 for fractured femur and hip repair.

Chip was my mother's outdoor, country cat. He was attacked by a neighbor's roaming dog, and my mother did all she could to help him, often carrying him to food and water. After a few weeks he seemed to be recovering and walking. However when the dog started coming around again, we decided to adopt him and give him an indoor life!

Chip now seems as if he had been indoors all his life and loves to climb a little stool to get on the couch to snuggle with us! He has even made friends with our dog, despite having previously been attacked by one. Although we have not had Chip long, he is so loving and adaptable that we all became instantly attached!

Chip is a people oriented cat with the loudest purr I've ever heard and he does it the minute you touch him! What's most special about him though is that he's such a plucky trooper of a cat with a strong desire to live despite his severe injury. He is still the typical kitten at heart and loves to play!

At his first vet visit after we adopted him, Chip fooled everyone into thinking only his left ankle joint was dislocated. However, the vet thought this was healing well and would fully recover. It wasn't until his neutering appointment that more x-rays were taken "just in case" which revealed a severely fractured femur and dislocated hip on the right side!

Chip needs surgery to not be in chronic pain and we have not been able to find financial assistance through other means. He is such a tough cookie, I know he will thrive after surgery!
