Help Choco Heal and Stay by His Mom’s Side

Meet Choco, a sweet eight-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier whose entire world revolves around the person he loves most. More than just a pet, Choco is a loyal companion, a source of comfort, and a registered emotional support animal who has helped his mom through life’s hardest moments. Now, Choco needs help in return.

Choco came into his mom’s life when he was just under two years old after his previous family could no longer keep him due to housing restrictions related to his breed. From that moment on, the two became inseparable. Through every challenge, Choco has been her safe place — offering unconditional love, comfort, and stability.

Recently, their lives were turned upside down when Choco was diagnosed with a painful perineal hernia, a serious medical condition that requires urgent surgery to prevent dangerous complications and give him the chance to live comfortably again.

His surgery is scheduled for May 27, 2026, and the estimated cost of care is more than $5,300. While Paws 4 A Cure has generously provided a $300 grant toward his treatment, Choco’s family still urgently needs help covering the remaining costs so he can move forward with surgery.

Despite everything he is going through, Choco continues to be the gentle, loving dog his family adores. His veterinarian is optimistic that with surgery, he has an excellent chance at recovery and many more happy years ahead.
