Chomp came into my life the same time that my boyfriend came into my life. For the last five years, I have helped Chomp heal from his previous life as a stray. My boyfriend took him in during a winter storm, or more like Chomp walked into the garbage in New Brunswick, NJ. He was severely injured, with a huge chunk of his neck missing and massive infections. He is still dealing from those injuries.

Chomp came into my life with a severe neck wound and related infections. He is has FIV and this impacts his immune system. He is dealing with severe and ongoing gingivitis and needs a full mouth extraction and surgical intervention from a feline veterinary specialist. We were referred to Veterinary Dentistry Specialists in Mount Laurel, NJ. He is scheduled for his procedure for Wednesday 11/17/24.

Chomp is a magical tabby. My boyfriend did not have much cat experience so he went from scrawny to huge chonk for awhile but his weight is more controlled with me in his life. His mouth issues quickly deteriorated this summer and we thought a typical extraction would be sufficient but it was much worse. Besides his mouth, Chomp is generally healthy, and sassy, macho, and frisky. He is our watcher.

We thought it would be around $2000 but it is more like $6000 to start. We will know the final estimate right before the procedure. We are using Scratch Pay for now. The extra monthly payment is unexpected and we don’t want to sacrifice the care of our other senior rescues.
